Watching a talking head scientist on Fox News, he stated the Omicron appears to be a lab created bug from a lab in Africa. While it is highly infectious in mice and men (maybe a title to a book there), it is far less problematic in the lungs of humans - but not for mice.

The scientist declined to state which lab in Africa was the source.

So the Omicron did not jump from humans to mice and then back, a covid strain was introduced to mice by scientists, manipulated to be highly contagious to mice and then, hopefully, was transferred back to humans by accident, rather than by intention.

Now, if we could get common sense to be as highly transmissible.....
