Never been tested - Will have too

I've not had a covid test yet. Late in December I have a job that will require it; and it has to be "medically observed." It also has to be within 48 hours of my job start. So apparently there is a service for $40 that watches you send the swab up your nose and put it into a solution - 15 minutes later you get a result. Anyone know anything about these? Accuracy rate? Etc? Anyone know of one that costs less?

    2. At what cost?
    3. What hard evidence do you have?

What What this job? A customer or yiur employer? I believe you got 2 jobs from what you have previously posted. Does everyone has to get tested regardless of vaccine status? I am starting to see this with large tech companies, the ones who were first to mandate contractors get shots.

What is funny, I personally know of very high up engineers and executives at these companies who are exempt. No jabs, masks or testing. There should be some discrimination lawsuits based on those facts.

The ones, they feel, are irreplaceable.

That is exactly right. I know of a tech company where all the top engineers aren't vaccinated, don't wear masks and don't get tested. I asked my contact about it and he said they told the company they would leave and nothing could make them get it. The company caved.

It’s more of a gig. I take a group on a cruise in December. Cruise lines are requiring a test prior to sailing.

If this is California, if your employer requires testing, your employer is required to pay for it.

That's correct but I don't see anything on the FAQ below I found about job applicants. Although every medical test I've done after accepting a pending job offer, was paid for by the employer.

I've done one like this - they call it a Rapid Antigen Test. The one I had was administered by the tech. I believe it is the lowest cost of them, around $40

I've also had a PCR test that I performed while someone watched me. Put it in a bag and dropped it in the collection box. Next morning the results were available online. I've had 2 of these, both performed by Los Angeles County. Both were zero cost.

                All 3 results were negative.

Every time I visit my mom in a nursing facility I have to do a test. I swab my nose hand them the qtip and then wait. It takes about 10 minutes for the result and I have always come back negative. Not sure what type of test it is.
