Test requested to attend Thanksgiving - after action RPT post #86

In-laws are hosting this year and I found out today they want me tested beforehand, or take a 'home test' at their house when I arrive. 3 other relatives attending who aren't vaxxed say they're getting tested beforehand (1 adult, 2 teens). I was at the same in-laws house a couple of months ago (after a funeral). No problems then for some reason and nobody was wearing masks.

Not sure how to respond. No one from this side of the family has given me any grief about it ever. I suspect an older paranoid couple attending are the ones asking for it (different in-laws parents).

I wonder if there's going to be a kids table and a table for unvaxxed in the backyard.

          Why not?

“Sure, no problem. Funny you should ask, though. This is awkward but I’ve also got a few tests. I’m going to need you guys to submit a toxicology report and IQ test before we settle in. I’ll have everything set-up...they’re pretty painless procedures.”

Host your own dinner and lure all their guests away.

Say you're going to take their home test when you arrive, but then the day of, pick one of the CDC Covid-19 symptoms and bow out. "Come down with a headache" or something. Even fatigue is an official symptom. (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019.../symptoms.html)

If older people were rationally paranoid, they would avoid all contact with everyone because they are more susceptible to everything.

I've been bowing out of all vaccination/test-required social events myself. I come up with a way to do things with them outdoors if they are okay with that.

Really? The .gov is not Gestapo enough? They will enact their own mandate? Tell them to fork off. Compliance = acceptance.

You should test. The vaccinated are completely safe from COVID unless they are exposed to it by someone who hasn't been vaccinated. In those cases, it's extremely dangerous for them. Not only do you have a high probability of making them sick, the science clearly says it makes global warming worse and puts endangered species at risk.

If you really don't want to test, maybe ask if you can buy a carbon offset and go vegetarian for Thanksgiving instead?
