Ireland had lots going for it, island nation, high vax rate, less diseased illegal aliens walking across the border. Yet they have more total new cases and more in ICU per capita than Los Angeles. I find that an interesting comparison.

I was just wondering -- are there vaccines for any diseases which confer greater immunity than the disease itself?

I briefly checked two, measles and chicken pox, and neither came close. The chicken pox vaccine (actually a live virus) was down like 20 points after a decade. I believe the whole point of a vaccine being FDA-approved was just that it confers a decent amount of immunity with lower side effects than the disease itself, not that the vaccine needs to be as good as natural immunity.

Anyway, the CDC study I find interesting, although the CDC's pathetic credibility means I'll probably wait another decade before taking them seriously on this issue.
