Its a fine line between how much pharmaceutical companies line the pockets of our gov vs how much they charge our gov.

It should be free, just like the vaccine. After all, isn't it about saving lives!

          Xlnt! I have Merck stock.

Pretty stoopid to compare it to the cost of making generics in India. Generics aren't paying the overhead of all the R&D.

No wonder people are pushing for Medicare to start bargaining prescription prices.

PrEP for HIV costs $5000/month, which CA covers for millions of people, regardless of insurance coverage. $712 aint nothin.

Originally developed by Emory University with U.S. government funding, the drug was licensed by Ridgeback Biotherapeutics last year. Efforts to get authorization during the Trump administration were stymied, leading Ridgeback to turn to Merck.

I kinda lulzed at the 10% imputed profit margin. Reminded me of the good old days of reasonable profit. That's so in the past. Welcome to 2021. Glad the pills are around for those who want/need them and have the means to afford them.

Merrick, is the maker of Ivermectin .06 per pill

They just renamed it, and maybe tweaked a bit.

No wonder the Democrats and Big Pharma and the corrupt mainstream media railed so hard against Ivermectin... they wanted to sell the $700 pill and rake in billions, and it's hard to do that when there's a $0.05 generic drug that works even better than their $700 pill.

Don't be....this isn't just a reissue of upgraded Ivermectin it's yet another means to shuffle the building blocks of life in people.

You wish that was their motivation.

                          They have money,

if they need more they will print it.

10% doesn't work in an R&D environment. When you get a winner, it's gotta pay for the failures and the next winner's development.

Is net profit of 13.55% a reasonable profit? That was their most recent quarter end.

is 60 cents earnings per share (quarterly) on a $80 stock reasonable. That's 3% annualized.

This drug should be free because _________ (fill in the heart breaking tear jerker reason here). Guess what? If Merck and other drug companies were not able to make big profits on essential or life saving drugs these drugs would never have been discovered/developed in the first place and No one would benefit from these advancements in care. Private companies using private funds to create good life saving products that would never exist if we had to rely on the (public sector) government to do this. It shocks me how many gun owners and members of this site that consider themselves conservative, pro America capitalists, whine about free markets and favor socialist/communist controls over so many things.
