Bay Area Tech stances on exemptions (interviewing)

I am currently interviewing for SF Bay Area software engineering positions

here are some examples of current stance on exemptions and vax requirements

    Asana
"Re: return to office, all employees returning must show proof of vaccination. There are no exemptions allowed. We do not have a remote work policy- anyone working for Asana will be expected to return to office once it is safe to do so (we won't return until February 2022 at the earliest).

    Google
"Full vaccinations are only a requirement needed to enter a Google office in the U.S. Those that are not vaccinated at this time are to continue to work from home during the voluntary work-from-home period and we will get them in contact with a member of our People Operations team to discuss options according to specific circumstances. "

    Facebook
"Vaccinations are not required for remote workers "

Though their stances will change to more severe as mandates and local governments push for tougher restrictions.

looks like Asana is out for me.
Interviewing with Facebook, Google in a couple weeks.

Probably just going to end up taking remote work somewhere.

kind of sucks because these were dream positions ,
had to spend last 2 years taking care of my type 1 diabetic son because of remote learning and special care,
applying to lots of "return to work for caregiving" positions

I'm so glad I'm not in that industry.

I absolutely do not have the personality for that chit.

I miss the days when companies just made product or provided services and minded their own business.

Does anyone know if the employers were given protection in this? Early on I saw lawyers suggesting that employers needed to be careful with vaccine mandates because any adverse reactions might be considered a "worker's comp injury" if the vaccine was required for work.

Facebook force vax remote workers. Maybe the recruiters lied.

I hear Google is forcing some people to RTO (return to office) and they're required to be vaccinated

I postponed my interviews for a month or so to see how their mandate stance change as they get closer to returning back to physical office to work.
No need to start a new position only to get "shadow-fired" for not getting the vaccine or having to file an exemption after I started working there.

In California we have children vaccine mandate for school children so i am taking the time to setup a homeschool for them.

Asana is a no go for me.

Good for you. But I don't they'll get the reference to Gen. McAuliffe's reply to the German request for his surrender.

I am in this position as well; same industry, same Bay Area, same garbage. I just might have to look at smaller compaies outside the bay area (Texas maybe?) and work 100% remotely.
