We need to end prescriptions entirely

No link this time, as this is just my personal opinion. I believe we need to end prescriptions entirely. Make all medications over the counter. We've learned during this episode that the government and medical establishment will abuse the prescription system to prevent you from getting access to potentially life saving medications, all to favor their preferred treatment, no matter if science supports their position or not.

What medications you're allowed to use has become politicized, taking both you and your doctor almost entirely out of the decision making process. This is wrong on so many levels.

Before anyone says that it will result in people abusing painkillers, etc, the "opioid crisis" has taken place with the blessing of the prescription system. There's no evidence that removing the prescription requirement would make the problem worse.

The point of government run health care (single payer) is to control you. IF you do not have the correct social credits they will let you die or outright kill you.

Take Heed that no man deceives you! This is based on Alinsky’s eight steps from democracy to socialist society. Obama quotes him often in his book and Hillary did her thesis on Alinsky. ALMOST DONE…

        1. Healthcare: “Control Healthcare and you control the People”

IF the point of health care was to provide health services, it would be a free market system. The indigents would be provided for via charity. This worked very well until relatively recently. Government run health care has never worked as well anywhere or at any time.

what about antibiotics we need to hold them back a bit to make them last longer against bacteria

That works fine until you die of bacterial meningitis, which I nearly did. It was because a moronic GP at a group practice with held antibiotics for spreading long term ear infection. I went to a real ENT, got real antibiotics and got well. The ENT told me after he feared for my life.

Which also points out that affirmative action hiring and medical school preferences kill people. It must be merit based.

how would you know when you need and antarrhythmic, and which one, and when you get an infection, which one to take for gram positive infections or viral infections and how long to take them and what strength?

There's a reason they're prescription, because someone has to examine you that has education, training and experience with the drugs, and who follows your health history..

Are we really having such a banal discussion??

Doctors can still specify doses to their patients.

As far as antibiotics, the rationing them argument is a misdirection. We're actively wrecking all of them with widespread use with cattle, chickens, etc. There's no point to withholding them from humans when millions of farm animals are getting them daily and they aren't even to treat an illness.

And in complex situations like that people should see a Dr., nobody's saying they can't. Take a (prescription) chill pill.

Alcohol and now marijuana have been legalized and those are the ways society can take a chill pill.

But if you mean a pill for anxiety, such as Ativan or Xanax, then those need a script.

It isn't just that, but most people wouldn't know which antibiotic to use for an infection even if it is bacterial (something that isn't always easy to determine). OTC antibiotics typically lead to incredibly high rates of resistance. It's bad enough even with prescriptions because patients berate their MDs for not giving them the "antibiotics that I need", but at least there's a little push back and proper selection (well, at least for the physicians who weren't diversity hires/liberal arts experiments in medical school).
