That's like saying if you have shoot yourself with a gun, this .22LR is a good alternative to the 9mm and 45ACP options you had up until now. But still not recommending shooting yourself with a gun.

What's worse is that most people don't realize that CA pushed a mandatory 100% electronic prescription law starting on January 1st, 2022. They tout it as "reducing errors", although I've found that the electronic scripts screw up FAR more often than any other system (we use All Scripts so it's not like it's a fly by night).

My personal conspiracy is that it's meant for two things. First, watching ALL prescriptions real time for violations of this. If the EHR system sees ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine, it can be escalated to an investigation IMMEDIATELY and the script stopped before the pharmacist can even fill it.

Second, large pharmacies overcharging for meds now have an advantage. Once the script is sent, the patient doesn't have the option to get the price and say, "Give me my prescription back, I'm going somewhere that charges a reasonable price." They now have to contact the doctors office to get it specifically sent to pharmacy after pharmacy. Put enough hurdles and people will just do the easy thing and overpay.

It's much like the overregulation they passed in the last few years for blood draws in physician offices. We had "stolen" a phlebotomist from Quest who was drawing in our office. Even she had to quit when the regulations became impossible to follow. This means that larger groups like hospitals can now continue to charge more and get more of these draws. If a physician's office was drawing the blood, we don't send it to the most expensive option (unless an employee and that's the contract), we send it to the place that provides good service and charges the patient the lowest price.
