So what happened to "my body my choice?" Or is that only an argument when it favors the left?

If you look into the process to get a religious exemption, it is the same process as getting an accommodation under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).

Legally, an employee must put the request in writing. The legal process requires a conversation between the employee and employer to discuss what accommodation is being requested and the reason for it. The employer can ask reasonable questions to determine, in the case of religious exemptions, if it is truly a sincerely held religious belief. The employee does not need to be a member of an organized religion.

But if the employer has a valid safety reason for requiring the employee to be vaccinated, then the employer can legally place the employee on unpaid leave until the pandemic is over. This is what many hospitals are doing with the valid reason of patient safety. Others are requiring unvaccinated employees to be tested once or twice a week.

With the rapid tests available, I believe most courts would consider regular testing to be a reasonable accommodation for those with a strong religiously held belief.

Many Christians are stating the reason for not taking the COVID vaccine is because it was developed on human cell tissues that originated from fetal cells obtained from aborted fetuses back in the 1970s. These human cells have been propagated and used for nearly 50 years to develop vaccines, and test all sorts of modern and older pharmaceuticals.

For example, the modern rabies vaccine comes from these human tissues and it is much more effective and much less likely to cause an allergic reaction than the older versions that came from chicken embryos.

So, if you are claiming a religious exemption because the vaccine was developed on a tissue culture that originated from aborted fetuses 50 years ago, you also need to not use all these other medications that were developed and tested using the same tissue lines, otherwise it is not a sincerely held religious belief.

If your employer pays for your health insurance and that covers your prescriptions, your employer already has access to the medications you take. They pay the bill and the insurance provider gives them a break down of who used what services every year. That determines how much the insurance for the next year costs and plays a role on what meds get added to or dropped from the list of approved drugs.

If you are going to use the religious exemption, you have to be consistent and be ready to back it up with enough evidence to withstand legal scrutiny. So if you are going to use the aborted fetus cell line argument, make sure you are not using any of the modern medications or the older ones that were retested and reapproved using those cell tissues.

If you got your shingles vaccine or pneumonia vaccine, they were also developed on those aborted fetal cell tissue lines.

Personally, I believe my body, my choice should be good enough. It might be easier to get a medical exemption from your doctor.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

Wrong about using fetal cells as a reason to refuse. What if a person became a Christan two weeks ago and objects even though they took vaccines previously? Or they were unaware previous vaccines used fetal cells? An employer has no authority to choose what religious beliefs are acceptable or not. There are plenty of reasons a Christian can object. Please show me the legal process of scrutinizing ones religious beliefs. I'd love to see it.

How many people know about how the various vaccines are made? How many have actually ever even seen the package insert for vaccines?

Finding new information (even "new to you") which now reforms ones opinions is reason enough - actually, that's how science works - a single piece of new data can cause entire theories to evaporate.

The same goes for personal belief - a new found reality can completely transform ones belief system.

2 of my sisters just presented religious exemptions from our church. Excepted with bi-weekly testing that business is paying for and mask on at all times.

My company came out with an email this afternoon, only sent to those who have filed exemptions and are waiting for decisions, stating that they are in the process of scrutinizing the submissions as many have been submitted with cookie-cutter language garnered from ‘websites’ based on free or paid templates.

The language is insulting, and there is a direct threat of disciplinary action. I’m embarrassed for them and ashamed.

My wife’s hospital is taking the other approach - they are enforcing the letter of the mandate, but are far more agreeable to exemption requests as they should be - who the hell is an employer to question anyone’s faith???
