Thanks for sharing. My C19 was much the same. I wouldn't wish it on anyone but it wasn't that bad.

To both of you, sd_shooter and glassparman:

How much face-to-face conversation do you have with others in your job and your personal life, if you don't mind sharing?

My work life I interact with about the same 15-20 people on a daily basis. I do try to stay the distance whenever possible. Like I said, DOD facility so required to wear masks indoors at all times.

Most days I have to sit at various "hot seats" in different locations spread out between three buildings . There are wipes and hand sanitizer everywhere for all to use. Don't know how many do but I do. Been a bit extra careful because this time last year I was on disability and very sick after a bad bought if Valley Fever. Still on the meds even though my lungs are good now but the doc just wants to fully eradicate the Cocci fungus from my body. (Note to others-GET OUT OF THE DESERT!)

I'm a network engineer for a software dev team. Most of my team keeps to their desks all day and I'm the only one that moves around for the most part. We reside in a cube city but they are a good 8' apart with lots of space around. Common break room area but I only use the fridge for my waters.

As for after hours . . . I usually head home to work on my '65 Fairlane project before dinner. Once in a while I do pop in Lowe's on the way home.

Lastly, I do attend a nice size church . . . Most are maskless on Sunday. I also attend a small men's Bible study group on Tuesday nights of about 25 men. I have not been to either for almost three weeks because of a strange work project where I had to work instead. Good thing I missed the men's group on Tuesday because that's when I first noticed the symptoms.

That's about it, boring life! But that leaves more time to reload and work on my car projects.

I know the church thing is a risk but my wife always has the hand sanitizer out and makes me mask up if she hears someone cough or sneeze! Gotta love those wives! LOL

Unfortunately masks don't work like people think....
Best indicator is amount of time spent with poor airflow with an infected person.

I wish I loved anything as much as the media loves praising Japan's mask culture

My C19 experience back in December was just 3 days of body aches and a mild cough and lack of energy. No fever ever and I was checking constantly. Wasn't even enough to keep me from working (remotely).

A couple decades ago I had strep so bad that for a week I thought I was going to die.

I had the flu about 15 years ago so bad I could barely make it to the toilet for over a week. It was the great grandpa of covid and it fought in the war! LOL

I'm glad your symptoms were mild to moderate - no ER visit!

It really makes you wonder why the wide range of reactions. I'm sure someone will get paid a ton over the next decade to unravel it.

                  Millions have had his experience.

                  It's not a death sentence, it's not an automatic hospital visit. It's a cold/flu.

Welcome to Feb-Mar 2020... the only difference is more people freaked out back then and almost no one believed it was like the flu.

The best airflow-through-masks study I saw in my opinion had it reducing virus load by maybe a third if recall correctly... wish I could find it. But practically it doesn't make a difference because most people don't wear a tight-fitting mask and 2/3 of the particles just means you'd catch it by Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Anyway, I'd guesstimate a 75% chance you caught it at work.

The Valley Fever sounds like a serious bummer. That scares me way more than COVID. I love the desert. I'm stuck in the crowded Bay Area. Being out in the open desert is what my mind drifts to all day long.

Yes, I love the desert as well. Moved here in 1985 when I finished my four years in the Army. Born in San Fernando/L A.

It is actually worse by you. The central valley has it bad! Modesto, Fresno and that area seem like they aren't desert but have bad Cocci infection rates.

If your immune system is good, you will just think you had a mild cold for a few days. Mine was weak from extreme work stress so it almost killed me.

I know the non medical masks aren't worth anything. I have N95 my wife paid a premium for during the height last year. Running out of them though because you sure can't wash them.

Yeah, might be coincidence, but -- the only two flu-type illnesses I had in the past 20 years were both when I was very stressed out. (I've never taken a flu vaccine). Snotty colds and the stomach "flu" (norovirus) are what I get in happier times.

I don't get any Central Valley dust, just smoke from fires which for whatever reason never bothered me in the slightest. It just reminds me of campfires.

I was wearing a P100 mask on Bart for a while, with the big pink filters like a meth cook, as even a cold would prevent me from going into the office even though it was mostly empty. But a vaccine semi-mandate (I can go into the office without proof of a shot but I need to justify a good reason) has had me working from home 100% lately.

Hey OP, just out of curiosity, how's your cardiovascular health? Work out regularly? How's your BMI and blood pressure? Your diet sounds good, but are you one of those super fit, healthy outlier types? Not gay.....just comparing your stats to my similar stats. I'm also 6' and have gotten down to 190. Still a little flabby and bp is just a tad bit high. Hoping I'll survive unvaccinated if and when I get it.
