Good for them! It is about time.

I have been saying "cases" means little since the beginning. Deaths actually matter. But only deaths that are a direct result of the virus. People who died with or had symptoms but no test should not have been counted.


Here in California cases appear to have peaked. Deaths remain insignificant.

There is no crisis to address. I predict viral activity will bottom out in a couple of months. We will have one or two small blips in the months ahead.

We have never micromanaged a flu virus like this before. The observations on cases and deaths are unprecedented in that we have never looks so closely or tested on this scale. Death certificates were never done this way. Part of the reason we have so many case and deaths is because they changed the rules. It may well be that we could have had similar flu outbreak in the past. We just accepted the reality and soldiered on.
