That was a great video, one of the few I see on CalGuns over a minute in length that I watch from start to finish. I listened to Dr. Drew on Loveline for years and while I always thought he offered good advice it was actually fairly generic. But this is the best 10 minute discussion on the lockdown and public health policy I've heard yet. I didn't know he had this in him.
His best remarks are that the vast lockdowns we went through did not come from any public health playbook and the idea did not come from a medical textbook or conventional public health wisdom, despite the worse pandemics humanity has dealt with before. (The phrase "social distancing" had been used in the medical literature at least as far back as 2017, but it was an idea for flu epidemics and I'm kind of guessing here but I believe it was a newer idea and not in any textbooks). As late as March 15 I think it was, Fauci was on TV saying the U.S. did not need an Italian or Chinese-style lockdown. The lockdown arose from doctors allowing mass panic to push them.
I'm glad to finally see a doctor admit the public health specialists had no idea what they were doing and made this up on the fly and imposed breathtaking near-orders that most of the U.S. would adopt. Dr Drew's best quote here: "... the FDA, the CDC and he NIH. Do you think, Megyn, those organizations EVER had anything to do with ANY decision I made taking care of a patient through a 35 year career EVER? They would send me publications and information and give suggesions..."Comment
