Which is safer? Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson

Wife received Moderna. One kid Pfizer and the other Moderna. Me, none of them, but there are rumblings in the workplace so I may need to choose one of them soon.

I'm leaning towards the J&J because I sort of understand the science and I don't want to be messing with MRNA.

        They are all genetic therapy,

the stated intent is to introduce spike proteins to mimic the spike proteins from Covid that your body will replicate same and be better prepared should Covid be contracted.

Similar to how a vaccine works.

Subtle nuance of how the spike protein genetic material gets introduced matters not.

This one is the safest. Print, fill out, laminate. Zero health related side effects.

Honest answer, it's complicated, but I would lean to Pfizer. Alternately, you could hold out a few months for Novavax to see if it has even lower adverse reaction statistics, but honestly all three are pretty safe.

Janssen (J&J) has a small signal of blood clots, occasionally serious, in the tens per million range. This effect is strongest in women around 30 years of age, which you probably are not. Be aware of this small risk and watch for signs, such as persistent headache for days afterward, and get treatment if it happens.

Pfizer and Moderna both have small signals of pericarditis and myocarditis, also in the tens per million range. This is strongest in young men, and bears some watching for children. Know the signs and get treatment if you think you have this reaction.

However, the mRNA vaccines have an edge for safety on the Janssen vaccine because they come as a double dose. Any adverse reactions should appear on the first dose, after which you should avoid the second dose. Janssen is a bit more persistent as an all-or-nothing course.

Given the choice between all three, I would pick Pfizer. I wound up with Moderna and had only very mild side effects after the second dose. As with all things, talk to a doctor if it counts, I am not one.

They are all basically the same, except the delivery system. None of them are safe from what I've seen. If you are afraid of covid there are alternatives.

Delta covid is pretty safe, and you get real immunity afterward.

Like you I got it for work, not because I feared the big bad bug. So I did the J&J, one stick and done.

This. I'd avoid all the 'vaccines' for as long as humanly possible.

If you can no longer put food on the table, then maybe it's time.

I’d probably take the J&J if a gun was held to key head and I had to make a choice. Reason being is there is 0 data on the long term effects or the mRNA family of, for lack of a better word we will call them “vaccines”.

Governments have a long tradition of saying things were safe which turns out 40 years later causes cancer or infertility or something else.

Not from a Medical POV, but from watching thousands of people go through a line and receive their shot, I observed fewer reactions with Pfizer than the others. J&J is a NO-GO for me.
