Better to let millions of people die than do anything to potentially support Trump.
Bad scientist.
Bad scientist.
Now go get that vaccine, because well, we said so ...
Real Californian... -
But but but...... SCIENCE!!!! Unbiased, and not connected to ideology or tethered to an agenda in any way.
Hey - "the damn vaccine is safe" has been shouted over and over, because, you know..... science.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Science is now 98% politics...
Government and Pharma pay for research and the outcomeRule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Respectfully, scientists signing on to a letter (or remaining silent) is not science. It is somewhat craven, though, to couple such decisions so strongly to personal politics.
A more reasonable line of attack would be on whether political bias affected editorial decisions in the journals, and this is credible. However, an interesting feature of this particular disaster is that the journals have been free and preprint archives have been absolutely abuzz with activity -- so the ability of journals to stanch competing opinions doesn't really exist right now. Good science is there to be seen if you hunt for it.
I am not impressed with the professional cowardice of those named individuals, however. It has been clear from day one that laboratory escape was reasonable, and does not deserve to be termed a conspiracy theory.Riflemen Needed.

No.... but it taints the scientific community in general, and their scientific findings in particular. It strongly suggests that "science" and scientists are not politically unbiased, no?Last edited by bigbossman; 06-17-2021, 3:03 PM.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. No, and that's exactly my point -- scientists are biased. Science is not. The process exists to control bias.
Example, at one time 99.9% of the world's astronomers concurred that the Earth was the center of the Universe, and decided this on political grounds. That did not make it true -- because that consensus was not science.
Always be skeptical of scientists. Examine their work, not their credentials. You will note that the actual evidence for lab leak being impossible is very thin on the ground. Science has never retired that hypothesis.Riflemen Needed.

Yeah, but it is not doing a great job of it at present, or even back in the dark ages when religion drove science.
I agree with your distinction, but it is a distinction without a practical difference. Sure - logically you can separate science and scientists, but practically speaking, biased scientists drive the science of the day. They are entwined with each other. Science will out eventually, but the inescapable fact is that biased scientists are driving the science bus and always have been.Last edited by bigbossman; 06-17-2021, 6:17 PM.Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles.
