Unless someone was going to make another futile run at a "wet market" like fantasy I don't see the importance of there being bats in a bat virus research facility.

Who didn't know they had bats? I didn't realize there was any controversy on this. Researchers working there did interviews prior to the pandemic where they discussed their research involving live bats there.
