Xiden and CDC reopening will further separate us

We have a child-centered business (gymnastics). Up until this point, kids unmasked, parents in lobby masked. Everybody is GTG and very understanding. Can't wait to get back to normal.

So, Xiden, CDC, and Newscum come out with, "You can unmask indoors and outdoors as long as you are vaccinated." Ok, as a business, we're screwed. The only way to verify vaccination is to ask for cards. But that now alienates 30% ish of our members and potential members that have decided not to get vaccinated. But if I don't verify vaccination, my insurance won't cover me if something happens (already checked).

I sent out an e-blast clarifying what we, as a business, need to do to verify vaccination so parents can attend sans masks. Mind you, we are not excluding anybody from our business. People can still attend with masks, but if they want to go maskless, they need to verify they are vaccinated.

And before all you start blasting me, remember, I won't be insured if I don't follow the guidelines. I can't risk this with my family.

So, within 30 minutes, I get calls and e-mails from 5 members that are cancelling because of the new policy (remember, it's not my policy). And, when you attend preschool or any other school, you are required to show proof of vaccination.

Like most of you, I don't agree with what has been going on. Our business was forcibly closed for 6 months and now we're going to get hit again. If you patronize a business that will require you show proof, please understand they may not want or even agree with the policy, but they must or they open themselves up to serious liability.

couldn't you just still require masks from everyone? I see this as the safer middle ground (from a business perspective) I expect many to take.

You are making it your policy, to prove vaccination. You will continue to lose customers if you continue that. I would not be your customer.

Why not just post the new guidelines ( to comply with Insurance Co) and Trust your clients to do what is right (based on their own values).

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Sorry, posted in OT. Thought it more appropriate there.

Everything Biden does at his puppet masters request is intended to divide the nation.

It will be up to you too figure out how to mitigate these attempts with your customers. Wish I had something more helpful to say.

Totally agree. My issue is twofold:
              1. We have a son with special needs who is immunocompromised, and
              2. Insurance won't cover if we don't follow state and local guidelines.

It's all politics - duh! And we, as small business owners, are squeezed in the middle. 50% will be pissed we're opening back up with zero restrictions and will be freaked out due to the 15 months of fear mongering, and 50% will be happy. Can't maintain a business on 50%.

                  Nope. Walked it back.

Easy to be cavalier typing on a computer; very difficult implementing all of these insane policies.

Newsom says opening; CDC says, wait a minute, need vaccines to go maskless. In the past Newsom has followed CDC guidelines and then some. I was just trying to get a jump on things to avoid a mess next month. Jumped too early.

Sucks to be a small business owner right now!

I will be wearing a giant hairy vagina mask over my face and head in these situations.
