Europol Warns Gangs Are Selling Fake COVID Certificates For Air Travel

"Criminal gangs in Europe are producing and selling fake negative COVID-19 test certificates in airports and online, according to Europol, the bloc's police cooperation and coordination agency.

"As long as travel restrictions remain in place due to the Covid-19 situation, it is highly likely that production and sales of fake test certificates will prevail," Europol said in a statement Monday.

"Given the widespread technological means available, in the form of high-quality printers and different software, fraudsters can produce high-quality counterfeit, forged, or fake documents … Member states should be vigilant," Europol continued.

Europol issued the alert after member states reported heighten criminal activity at multiple airports of gangs selling false coronavirus test results for hundreds of euros.

For instance, police arrested one suspect at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris for selling fake test results for up to 300 euros apiece. There have been similar busts in Spain, Netherlands, and at Luton Airport near London.

Dutch daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad reported that popular messaging apps, including WhatsApp and Snapchat, are seeing the increased activity of criminal organizations selling fake PCR test certificates, along with forged signatures of real doctors. The tests sell for around 50 euros, compared with an official test that costs about 150 euros.

All of this comes as EU countries have restricted travel across the continent and request travelers to present negative virus tests before boarding . . . " https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/e...ing-sold-gangs

It seems like it would be more of a PITA to jump through all of the hoops to ensure anonymity (set up burner phones, establishing anoymous payment accounts, etc.) and dealing with the criminal element than it would be to just go get the damn test/certificate. I suppose it might make sense if one is idealogically opposed to vaccinations, or wholeheartedly believe that this pandemic is one giant scam, but it's not like you're being denied travel because of an immutable characteristic and it is necessary to take drastic measures to escape oppression.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

I'm not "ideologically opposed to vaccinations", but I'm dubious about a new experimental novel vaccine that was rushed to market and not thoroughly tested, for a virus with a 99.9% survival rate. Frankly, I don't trust the process or the construct that lead up to the vaccine.

I'll sit on the sidelines for now, and see how things progress.

Agreed. Some vaccines are known safe; some are "novel"

Agree! Your common sense remarks are not common these days. Some vaccines have a proven track record of safety, offhand, like the BCG tuberculosis vaccine used about 100 years. This new vaccine is perfect for the young bold types to try out first. Like the saying goes, "There are old pilots and there are bold pilots; but there are no old bold pilots!"

Thanks. I'm not "anti" this vaccination, but I'm not convinced it is either necessary or even desirable......but that won't stop some idiot from coming along to label me an "anti-vaxxer".

That's certainly your prerogative, and that's really the entire point: a private business makes testing and/or vaccination a condition of using their services, and if you don't want to satisfy those conditions, you shouldn't try to get around it. Especially not by procuring false papers to trick that business into believing that you did. If one needs to trave domestically, there are other means other than by common carrier.

I also understand your lack of trust with respect to the manner in which the vaccine was developed - I have a healthy dose of skepticism about it myself. That doesn't make me an "anti-vaxxer," and not once did I call anyone the same loaded, derogatory term.
