Given the reports of some serious reactions I don't think it prudent to be administered outside of hospital or urgent care facility.

Vaccine rollout error?

"It is time for us to do what we have been doing and that time is every day. Every day it is time for us to agree that there are things and tools that are available to us to slow this thing down." - Kamala "Heels Up" Harris -
The General in charge of logistics has fallen on his sword a bit and taken responisbility for the early distro issues like states getting less doses than originally forcast. The reason given was that an error was made in understanding the bureaucracy involved and a 48 hour delay for the FDA to grant approval to each new batch produced.
That said it's largly up to the states how they distribute. For example there are people lining up in Florida to get the vacc as they have chosen to prioritize the elderly, and in NY Cuomo has decided that people in rehab get priority over the elderly.
There is also clearly an issue with the central planning in California that's slowing vacc distro and it has to do with many healthcare workers opting out of the vacc leaving hundreds of thousands of doses sitting in freezers unused.
Of course the soviet propaganda media blames Trump for the states lack of organization and ability to distribute quickly and efficiently."I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious." - Thomas Jefferson, 1824

There was a 60 second segment on the radio this morning about this; the doctor in the first sentence noted the "Federal Government got it too the states but its been poorly distributed from there." You could almost hear the stepping and fetching in his voice when two sentences later he blamed the Federal Government for not giving the states clear instructions ahead of time. GOTTA BLAME TRUMP for the biggest health care development in recent time don't they. Its all about the politics.
States have 20 million doses and have dished out 3 million = TRUMP's fault.1. Compared to what?
2. At what cost?
3. What hard evidence do you have?

You seem to be knowledgeable on these subjects. So, tell me, which is more at risk to have the sniffles and which is more at risk to take up a ICU bed?
No proof the vaccine keeps anyone from transmitting the virus to others. So, that 20 year old bagger might still give the virus to the hundreds of people that must buy groceries. Many of which are 65+.
Even an ex FDA chief feels we should expand beyond the narrow tiers we have now.
The U.S. coronavirus vaccine rollout is not keeping pace with the number of vaccines available or the new, more transmissible variant, former FDA commissioner and current Pfizer board member Dr. Scott Gottlieb said Sunday. “We have 40 million vaccines that were delivered in December,” he told CBS’ Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation.” “Five million were injected into arms. Right, which is the reason why the tiers are the way they are. My 79 year old neighbor doesn't work, sits at home all day and watches TV. Food gets delivered via meal service. She's never going to get sick at this rate.
On the other hand, that 20 year old at the local supermarket gets exposed to hundreds of people each day, in a locale with a 16% test positivity rate. If he gets sick, he's most likely going to be fine - in fact, so fine that he might not even notice it. Meanwhile, he'll keep exposing each of those hundreds of people a day.
What you have here is a limited supply and you are trying to protect vulnerable people while also trying to implement some kind of source control. It's not perfect but I understand why it is created this way.Entreprise Arms - FFL 07 manufacturer of CA-Legal FAL type rifles in Baldwin Park, CA.

I have seen no evidence that the vaccine keeps people from spreading the virus. "Experts" say we haven't tested for that and will not know for months if that is the case....that 20 year old at the local supermarket gets exposed to hundreds of people each day, in a locale with a 16% test positivity rate. I agree there should be some sort of priority or tier process. We just disagree on if the California or the Texas/Florida process is better."I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it." -- Thomas Jefferson

Just saw this in the news this morning ^ Same thing is happening everywhere - a large percentage of frontline healthcare workers, first responders, etc. are not taking it.64% of DC's appointments to get the first dose of a COVID vaccine are currently unbooked, per today's briefing by Mayor Bowser.Comment

There is simply no demand for the vaccine for a variety of reasons, many of them good. For the most part, the public mood is one of rejection, especially as it's being forced upon us. There needs to be some sort of impetus that compels people to line up as they would for the newest iPhone.
Sometimes people are just not motivated enough to fly the US flag on the Fourth of July and any requirement to do so would be met with outright rejection. Other times, nationalistic pride can be so strong that one can't find a flag to purchase.
Government is doing a poor job of selling the vaccination idea to the masses.Comment

Ideally, I'd say everyone should get it, and all at once. But for a number of reasons, all of which we can do little about at this immediate juncture, that is not possible.I have seen no evidence that the vaccine keeps people from spreading the virus. "Experts" say we haven't tested for that and will not know for months if that is the case.
I agree there should be some sort of priority or tier process. We just disagree on if the California or the Texas/Florida process is better.
The choice then is whether we vaccinate a small number of 65+ right now (we don't have anywhere near enough to do even a large % of them), or try to go the source control route. I agree it is not perfect, the 20yro may still get the virus and pass it on without getting sick, but I think that's the nature of the gamble.
Not defending or arguing what's right or wrong, I don't know, I just understand why they are doing it this way. Hope it is the right call.
There's a difference between first responders who already have a good routine, good equipment, turning it down because they already know how to avoid getting sick, and then people who don't have those turning it down. It's also possible there are frontline workers who are turning it down so someone who needs it more can get it.
Speaking only for myself, I'm looking forward to it. If I grow a tail, all the better.Entreprise Arms - FFL 07 manufacturer of CA-Legal FAL type rifles in Baldwin Park, CA.

And yet people in the profession, being first in line for the most part, are not 100% confident in taking the vaccine and you would think they would be suitably informed. Just because Pence, Fauci, Pelosi, AOC and other government bureaucrats are fine with the vaccine doesn't mean that people are buying what they are selling.

Apparently, the key to speeding up vaccinations is freezer failure.
850 doses in 2.5 hours.
Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)Comment
