I happened to be listening to KFBK out of Sacramento this afternoon when this was being discussed. Many of the homeless refuse medical treatment. They are not being tested so nobody can even make a guess at what rate they are contracting the virus.
Many do die at this time of year and their bodies are just found on the street. Since their bodies are rarely claimed and many have no IDs on them and no fingerprint records or other records to make identifying the bodies easy, they are left as John or Jane Doe and the remains cremated. Nobody misses them so it is not news.
My wife and her friend go on a daily walk and stop at a coffee shop afterwards. Their is a homeless guy that has been sitting on his bench for several months. He is seriously ill and can barely walk due to ankle problems. He refuses treatment. Last week my wife called the police to do a welfare check after noticing that he had not moved in 24 hours and the blanket he covered up with had fallen in front of his face.
He was dead and probably had died early in the morning and she called in the afternoon.
