    Stay at home order

Just came over the phone in the Monterey Bay area. How long this time? 3-weeks as stated? now way, 3-months?? Hopefully not so long as last time with Newsome facing recall.

Do they really think people are going to blow off X-mas? Maybe they are trying to halt the exodus of affluent Californianas fleeing the state? Are they putting up roadblocks or turning people black at the borders?

They say at 15% ICU remaining capacity they lock us down. That is close to the normal excess capacity in non flu season. They don't let ICUs sit empty and turn a profit.

I like how they call it an order and can't enforce it and most ignore it.

Unfortunately my clubs with the interesting activities all shut down. I'm getting tired of staying home, go for a walk, stay home, go to bed, repeat, repeat repeat....

I was really hoping this would not happen. I think it's the wrong way to go about it. Just like there are mitigating actions we can take as individuals, there are mitigating actions that can be taken as businesses (for most, at least).

Fauci argued yesterday that financial help needs to be provided to businesses from the state if the state wishes businesses to shut down. I completely agree. I would say that just as the banks needed to be bailed out, so do businesses.

I thought we already were in a new state shutdown. If they keep saying this every few weeks it won't mean anything to anyone.
I'll double-dog shut you down? Triple dog-shut down?
Can the state be any more unclear?

We are and have been in a series of lousy shutdowns, leaky and full of holes. A shutdown should be a shutdown, period. If you're going to make this sacrifice, go all the way. When you have all these exceptions and exemptions there's really no true firebreak, just a slowing of the burn.

A true shutdown does work, no doubt about it. Wuhan demonstrated that clearly. The political and social price is steep, and it is deeply unfair to those affected, but it does work. We've never done that, not even close.

I shut all of the notifications off on my phone.

That's the only shutdown we need to do.

BOOL SNIT as per new shutdowns, and throw all of the gobnors and county health officers that have a har**n for open bussiness's in jail. Rant over.

No. I thought you said earlier that you were a "disgruntled taxpayer", and you didn't want to foot the medical bill for unvaccinated individuals? Yet, now you're advocating to increase the burden on taxpayers for more useless bailouts? So, no to healthcare, but yes to a taxpayer funded bailout of ..... just how many dollars to how many businesses? Stop..... just stop. Let businesses get back to normal already. Open the economy, let people get back to work. People that think like you have done more than enough damage already.

We are not a communist society, and I pray we never will be. I do not support being held hostage in my own home, either by figuratively or literally at the point of a gun. No American would, it's lunacy. No..... Hell no.

You have some pretty clear memory holes, or just plain only see what you want to see. Maybe both. I've never advocated for lockdowns. Point is that if the state is going to do that - any state - the state ought to also make an effort to support those businesses asked to shut down. You keep trying to fight the anti-lockdown battle that no one is advocating. SMH. It's like watching someone insist on punching his own shadow.

Keep twisting and contorting.....it is at once amusing and embarrassing to witness.

Somehow- no matter how "locked down" we get over this pandemic; no matter how horrid things might get- I'm certain that the French Laundry restaurant will somehow magically remain open for dining. The politicians and power-elite of this nanny-state are attracted to that place like a 5 year old is to McDonald's.
