    Is Rapid Testing really Available?

Everywhere is posting the do same day results but when you press them it is only for the Antigen not active cases.

Is there anywhere (in the Inland Empire) that actually does 24 hour results??

A family member (but not household member) had a potential exposure last Saturday but did not find out until today when the positive person got their test results (4.5 to 5 days). So me family member called and has an appointment to test on Saturday (2.5 days) and will not get her results for 3-5 days.

So basically we are talking 10 - 12 days from possible exposure to test results. How inefficient is that??? Controlling it with testing and tracing seems to be wishful thinking.

Just glad I have not been in contact with any of them.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

A Cepheid machine can reliably do it in less than 40 minutes. Good luck finding a place that has one and will give you a test kit.

Poor/inconsistent emphasis on speedy testing and diligent contact tracing has been a critique of national and state responses since the beginning of this crisis.

My employer has to get a bunch of people tested, results were back later that day. I guess when you pay for it, you get faster results.

Rapid tests are crap. Almost anyone can be positive or negative.

I got a Rapid test ( 15 min ) from a MedHero clinic here in North County San Diego. Perhaps they have those out there? or something similar? check your local urgent care clinics.

Not quite. There is a false negative rate (16%) but no false positive rate. (according to our health dept). If you have contrasting info please share.

Indio, Coachella, Palm Springs, San Bernardino... COVID-19 RAPID TESTING BEING DONE IN ALL LOCATIONS NOW!

                      CVS... COVID-19 Testing

What type of test is performed?

MinuteClinic uses two types of COVID-19 testing to check for active infection. Rapid-result testing locations perform antigen testing, which returns results within hours. Lab testing locations perform polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing, which returns results within 3–4 days. If you are getting your testing for a specific purpose such as travel, please ensure you are selecting the proper test required by your airline, destination or other requiring organization. Certain travel destinations and airlines do not accept rapid-result testing.

We do not administer antibody tests, which indicate whether the patient has been infected in the past.
                      Coronavirus Disease 2019 Testing Basics

What is a COVID rapid test, and how does it work?

Until now, the majority of COVID-19 rapid diagnostic tests have been done with a nasal or throat swab. They detect a protein that is part of the coronavirus. These rapid tests are particularly useful for identifying a person who is at or near peak infection. COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) replicates itself by putting its genetic material inside our cells. If a person is being tested at the stage, when the virus is still replicating inside the cells, the coronavirus has not produced sufficient protein or shed enough to be detected by antigen testing.

Antigen tests – or rapid tests – are less expensive and generally faster. The downside is they can be less accurate. As of November, UC Davis Health has a rapid test that is highly accurate for COVID-19 and the flu. This test is used for patients with symptoms, where we need to know what’s causing those symptoms in order to better treat the patient.
