It's only a problem if it's not intentional....

What is it Bill Gates says about overpopulation? And what did his vaccine do in Africa?

If you get the virus your body will make antibodies against what is called the Spike protein (S). That is how the virus gets inside your cells so blocking it stops the virus cold.

The Pfizer vaccine makes you body generate some of that S protein and then your immune system makes antibodies against the S protein. I don't get why the natural antibodies from an infection are no problem, but the vaccine somehow it a threat. I don't get it.

Well I do after looking at that site. Full on tinfoil hat antivax on full afterburner. They are quite prolific though. an amazing amount of content.

That's called money. Why make an effective vaccine when it's not nearly as deadly and there is more money to be made in ongoing therapeutics instead. Why cure anything if there is more money to be made when people get sick?

"Flu" is multiple different strains of virus and mutates constantly. Coronaviruses are much more genetically stable and SARS-CoV-2 in particular is a single viral strain with minor mutations.

Rapid vaccine because they were told it is much more serious than flu..

Flu keeps mutating. Don't have time to make an effective vaccine..

Heard the vaccine isn't approved in US yet. Takes much longer here because of their going through the data and procedures with a fine tooth comb. They claim Europe jumps the gun.

Did I argue that the vaccine wasn't rushed? It is undeniable that it was rushed.

We basically have no therapeutics for Covid. Sure we have Regeneron's cocktail, but that is maybe 50k doses. In the context of even just eh US, that is very close to zero. We have tired just about everything and the best we have is remdesivir, and it only helps a little. With better management and corticosteroids like dexamethasone, we have cut the death rate by about half or so. It's still not good.

More like 300, IIRC. You'll basically get it only if you're Rudy or Jared.

And yet, for decades we haven't found a vaccine for the common cold, a coronavirus. Why is that? Why can we find a vaccine for this coronavirus in 10 months?????

Faulty generalization fallacy. "The common cold" includes strains of coronaviruses, but mostly is due to other types, such as rhinoviruses. A vaccine proof against the common cold would have to recognize dozens of rapidly mutating types, for relatively little benefit.

The main reason we never cured a coronavirus before is that we never needed to. The first real attempt was for the original SARS, and some of that work is paying off now.
