        Idiots still want more lockdowns, they still want more mask rules, they still want more social distancing. These people are sick.

                1000 experts say one thing, one expert says the opposite, you assume the one expert is right based on no evidence.

                I don't care what the topic is, that's a risky approach to decision making.

                Of course, it could be correct, I just need a lot more information.

                      At least these lockdowns are well intentioned.

                        Of the 32 cases, 26 are confirmed and six are probable cases, according to Maine CDC on Thursday. The median age of confirmed cases thus far is 42 years old, with a range of those who have tested positive spanning from 4 years old up to 78 years old. First it was two weeks to flatten the curve, now it appears to be open ended. Then they said things will go back to normal once we have a vaccine, which may never come. Now they are starting to fart the advice of fake WHO Dr. Tedros Adhanom, who is saying things cannot not return to normal for the foreseeable future, even if we get a vaccine.

                          * Creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
                          * Satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
                          * Augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
                          * Rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government

                            The lockdowns, as they were implemented, were a mistake. Blanket lockdowns tend to cause more harm than they do good. However, 'lockdowns,' when targeted, have been around a LONG time with epidemics and for good reason. Unfortunately, they are ONE tool and not necessarily the panacea many feel and/or felt them to be.

                            From The Heritage Foundation, 29 July... Are Lockdowns Necessary? What Data From 10 Countries Show

                            ...The evidence suggests that full lockdowns, such as those implemented in Italy and Norway, are not as effective as the more targeted approaches taken in other countries, such as in South Korea and Iceland...

                            Another key finding is that Australia and New Zealand, two neighboring countries with similar climates, have had similar outcomes regarding COVID-19, even though they took very different approaches to dealing with the virus.

                            In particular, New Zealand virtually locked down the entire country in the spring, while Australia took a less restrictive approach.

                            Yet, both countries have contained the virus at similar levels...

                            For instance, maximum effort here in the U.S. should be concentrated on protecting those at risk, as well as the livelihoods of American families. Among the many countries we examined, our study notes that there are aspects of the South Korean approach that lawmakers can learn from...

                            As Heritage Foundation research has discussed, focusing on hot spots, protecting the elderly and most vulnerable, utilizing isolation centers to prevent the virus from spreading, taking advantage of contact tracing, and engaging in appropriate testing are policies lawmakers should consider in the coming months...
                            This is one of the reasons Joe Biden (among others) have it wrong. Blanket lockdowns are, as the OP author suggests, a sign of panic and desperation, usually indicative of a lack of knowledge regarding what they are up against. In a sense, it was fighting the new 'war' using the tactics of the old 'war;' i.e., the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. The problem is that the World, in many/most respects that matter, is an entirely different place. Travel is faster. Drugs and medical research are far more advanced by comparison. Society is different. You are dealing with two, different viruses. Et al.

                            It's similar to comparing one country to another. You take what lessons you can, but you don't necessarily say "That's IT" and try to replicate it exactly. Why? Because there are at least as many differences as similarities in the factors as there are between 1918 and 2020. Thus, it is almost impossible to replicate and, therefore, the results are very likely to be different as well.

                            This is what the author in the article from the OP is getting at.

                            ...“I never want to see national lockdown again,” he said. “It was always a temporary measure that simply delayed the stage of the epidemic we see now. It was never going to change anything fundamentally, however low we drove down the number of cases, and now we know more about the virus and how to track it we should not be in this position again.

                            “We absolutely should never return to a position where children cannot play or go to school. I believe the harm lockdown is doing to our education, health care access, and broader aspects of our economy and society will turn out to be at least as great as the harm done by COVID-19...

                            The professor said he agreed with the lockdown measures in March, “as a short term emergency response because we couldn’t think of anything better to do, but it was always clear that the moment we started to relax enough measures we were likely to see infection rates rise again either nationally or locally.”

                            Woolhouse said his hope was that they would have learnt how to handle the virus better so the lockdown would no longer be necessary, however, little progress has been made in finding a viable alternative to lockdown.

                            “My concern is that far too many people involved in managing this pandemic have in mind that it will somehow burn itself out,” he said. “I don’t expect it to.”
