I would rather have the covid than be a partner in boat ownership, again. Nothing but problems.

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

I said the same thing in the beginning!! I said what does China actually have to lose from this virus? Their elderly, non-working, pension-receiving population dying off? The grim fact of the matter is, the Chinese government would see that as a positive thing.

I'd agree with you on that. The hikers I've met masked up aren't hiking solo, though.

So if they drove up there together, went home together, live together, hang out togeter... is there ever a time with no mask? ... is it only while hiking?

I'd shoot myself before I'd do that. That is messed up.

I strongly suspect (some) people would give you the option to mask up or shoot yourself- and be perfectly content with either option chosen.

Morbid but true. Thats the kind of sick people we are presented with these days.

Obviously there's no point wearing a mask if you're with the people you're living with at home, and there's nobody else around. Come on, you're coming up with ridiculous scenarios. Kind of like the people who try to convince people that having a gun at home is pointless. "Yeah, BUT what if they smash through your wall and into your bedroom? Yeah, BUT what if they are with 21 feet of you and they have a knife? Yeah, BUT what if the combination of your speedsafe jams?"

That said, another reason to wear a mask (or at least have it handy) is because a lot of trails are actually quite well populated. If you're on one of those, you'll likely have to pass people going up or down, the way is narrow, people are huffing and puffing - and sometimes you can't see them until you turn a corner. I no longer ascribe to the whole "do it to protect others" model , though. I wear a mask to protect myself. The national response is too boogered for any kind of alturistic mask wearing at this point.

So you're dismissing the idea that the people you see hiking together (your words) are likely do all those other things together?

Or is it just selective enforcement.
