Ughh, I'm a resident freaker and I think googles go a little far. Then again I wear glasses most days.

I doubt shields/goggles will be mandated since people cannot readily improvise those at home and availability of quality shields / goggles is low. The current mandate is also designed to reduce transmission, not to reduce infection (ie., it's for others, not for you). Wear it or not, it's up to you. Kind of like people who ask me what kind of body armor to buy. "Do you really need level III? Isn't owning a helmet a bit much?" Probably not, quite possibly yes. But you can't dispute that soft armor won't stop rifle rounds, or that any injury to the head can quickly become disabling. To each their own, do what you feel is right for you.
