Just as sd_shooter has pointed out several times. Sweden didn't destroy their economy and fared no worse than us. In fact they will come out of it better since we now have tens of millions out of work.

Extrapolating this death increase in Sweden vs Denmark which did shut-down for a period, and who's population masked up and socially distanced as well, to the US where idiots believe that COVID-19 is a hoax and wearing a mask infriges on their rights, then the numbers simply become staggering, i.e something more like 1,416,771,300 deaths in five months, with 3X the hospitalizations which would've severly over-topped the medical industry.

This epic failure is obvious when you realize that the US which has just 4.25% of the world's population is...

1) Number 1 in cases with 26.5% of the world's reported cases.
2) Number 1 in deaths with 22.9% of the world's reported deaths.
3) Number 4 in testing (though the testing is in large part too slow to be very useful for contact tracing).
4) Number 10 in cases per million.
5) Number 11 in deaths per million.
6) Number 2 in total tests (though the testing is in large part too slow to be very useful for contact tracing).
7) Number 21 in tests per million (though the testing is in large part too slow to be very useful for contact tracing).

They very much out of it. Think Flu cases are really at zero? No - the CDC just stops counting because they're bored of it. Might as well stop counting covid in Sweden.

Herpes & HIV so easy to avoid - stop sleeping around with strangers who have Herpes & HIV. You're not going to pick those up when shopping at the mall.

H1N1 - hey that's another Flu variant! No one cares. We have a 'vaccine' that's somewhere between 0-50% effective (see CDC), not exactly a cure. 650k people drop dead every year from the Flu, not a big deal since it's not a big deal. We have a lifespan, Flu is just one of the thousands of ways to end it.

Little chance of catching anything in Finland or Norway, there is about one person per square mile. It's not a festering 'cultural melting pot' of disease like NYC.

They didn't do squat - and this is from direct feedback from Swedish colleagues at work. Bars, Restaurants & Schools open. Big events cancelled, but that's it.

They paid a price, but everyone else will eventually pay it as well.

It doesnt matter what either side thinks, we are set in our beliefs. One side uses numbers to prove it's not a big deal and the other side uses emotion to derive a reaction that you somehow hate people and want them to die.

It can be both guys. Death rates when you factor in entire populations make vivid meaningless. It's not the apocalypse. Stories of families being taken out are heartwrenching but you need to understand what world and country are you leaving the "survivors"? We were never going to get to zero deaths, because we didnt have a zero tolerance view on the quarantine or lock downs. I deal with the public every damn day since the start of it.

Conspiracies aside we have left a hellscape in the wake of our gross over reaction. This pandemic will kill 3 times as many, factoring out Covid semi accurate numbers. You need to think about that before you denigrate the side that wants a return to normalcy. You will never get to zero, the media make sure of that.

But what you fail to realize and your buddy shooter fail to realize is they have way less of a population than us and they don't have a poor health, poor diet, morbidly obese society like the United States. It's apples to oranges.

So it has been a few days and in my little "pre-existing conditions?" poll we are at 16 members with PECs and 9 without. That's just our small little sample here, and from an earlier poll that I did we can (very loosely) guess that perhaps half of our population is not elderly (over 65). Which means that, regardless of age, a very high percentage of this community has PECs. Totally junky science, I know, but it still kind of makes one think. I'd hate to say goodbye to 2/3rds of our neighbors here.

sweden also doesn't have a segment of its population equating wearing masks with "tyranny" or "virtue signaling". oddly enough, in sweden it is actually illegal to WEAR a mask. I wonder if this has been changed now.
