Coronavirus spike forces Florida to start closing some parts of the economy

Beaches in Miami-Dade County will close for the July Fourth weekend-- less than a month after reopening-- and gatherings of 50 or more will be prohibited due to recent surges in coronavirus cases.

Florida bans alcohol consumption at bars as coronavirus cases rise among younger demographics in the state
Florida on Friday announced a ban of on-premise alcohol consumption at bars, just after the state Department of Health released daily coronavirus figures showing its count increased by nearly 9,000 cases -- more than 3,400 cases up from the previous daily increase.

You seem happy that people will lose their jobs and businesses will shutter forever. I guess I don't understand this mentality. What is it that you really want? Do you want our country to die? Do you hate your fellow countrymen? Are you so blinded by your hatred of the current administration that you think destroying our country is some grand achievement? Honestly at this point your ilk seem to be in the majority, so good for you, I guess. I will never understand this level of hatred and lack of empathy.

This statement does not answer any of the questions I posited.

No, not triggered. I'm too old for that. But, I am curious about why many people believe staying locked up in your dwelling, and never venturing out again, destroying our country, and it's people is such a great idea. I am a firm believer in personal responsibility, and liberty, seems like that is an outdated concept.

Maybe you should have put this much effort into wearing a mask and properly social distancing.

They were left deeply afraid by the turn of events so they withdrew into denial,

to sooth their shame and rationalize why they should not have been pulling their weight like all the rest of us they concocted this "hoax" premise.

Now we can pick apart that stupidity at our leisure as the virus does what we know viruses do.

Still, no one has answered my questions. Just accusations and name calling. I'm not trying to be right or wrong, I have my beliefs others have their own. But, I am curious as to the glee being expressed by the destruction of our country. There are other ways to deal with disease, locking everyone up inside is not a way forward.

Masks and social distancing only slow the spread. Everyone who can, will eventually get it. The vast majority will not get gravely ill. Most will show no or only mild symptoms. Those who might be made severly ill should hide at home.

In the meantime we need to let it happen in a way that does not overwhelm the ERs. So far that that has not happened. We are closing whole floors and laying of medical personnel. Clearly we have the resources to deal with it.

Why people believe we can stop it escapes me. We can only slow it. Right now we are slowing it to a glacial pace. I may take years to get through it. The number of cases increasing is a good thing as long as we don't overwhelm the hospitals, and there is about zero chance that will happen.

The idea was to "flatten the curve". That is how they justified the temporary shutdowns. Now they are not so temporary. The new goal is to stop all new cases. This is a bad choice, it is impossible to do! The curve is a bell shape. The area under the curve is the number of people who get is. A tall bell or long flat bell shape will be the same area (number of infected) regardless. The flat bell shape takes much longer. IT is taking too long at this point. We need to loosen restrictions, let it run it's course, and save our country. No more or less people will die either way.

We were told since day one, everyone will get it. The virus will do what it does.

Or does it disappear if we hide under the covers long enough?

I'm not seeing any glee, there is a definite lack of empathy from D.C.

                          no, just prolongs the enivitale.
If the dems didn't think this is helping their cause, we'd be open months ago and the virus would be in the past. And smashycrashy would've already moved on to cry and be frightened to death about something else.
