It'll be really hard to track protests effects on virus spread. They appeared in virtually every city and coincided with reopening. Crowd size estimates are inexact at best, it's not like there was a gate. There are so many confounding factors that it'll be impossible to pinpoint how much they increased spread.

Now did they increase spread? Yes almost certainly, given viral spread dynamics, but how much no one knows. Are they the primary vector of new spread? Probably not. The NE states had huge protests and their cases are still dropping, so did the south and west have bigger more intense protests?

From the paper. Makes sense large protests with police/protester violence makes non-protestors who make up the vast majority of the popular more likely to stay at home. As an economist trying to measure something in the face of contravailing forces is really really difficult.

I wished to post the link, but they have now edited the info OUT of the article!.

I see a daily account of cases, new, active, recovered, and whether the voluntary contact tracing of the positive individuals indicated a link to a previously known case. This is for the four counties around me in Nevada.

This mornings article indicated 12% of the voluntary contact traces reported having attended a 'Social protest event'. That's the first data I have seen that showed anyone even asking the question, much less any results. Disappointed that they disappeared it, but not surprised. Yesterday our dipwad of a Governor followed his idol Gavin's lead in requiring masks in public, and last week he was photographed giving support at the Carson City BLM protest/riot/traffic disruption, sans mask. The optics would be bad on that one.

Well supposedly Phoenix is a "hot spot." Here's the BLM protest a couple weeks ago, fortunately according to CNN CV-19 doesn't affect BLM protests, only Trump rallies so they can still blame the orange man.
