We here brought ourselves up to speed on the attributes of masks/ respirators like a couple of months ago.

Strictly speaking speed isn't velocity, but that doesn't matter right now.

The mask takes part in the equation for μ which is the coefficient of friction. The mask decelerates your breath. This ties into your other thread about distances.
