There is no evidence of the virus mutating into a less deadly strain. No such evidence has been provided from Italy, and no such conclusion is formed in the CDC brief you just linked. The OP is misinformation.

I'm with rocketman man here, I don't see any mention of the virus mutating into a less deadly strain. The drop in deaths of course is good news, and although the report was from May 23rd, almost 2 weeks ago, in the small microcosm I am at I don't see any reason to believe it has gotten that much worse since May 23rd.

It is good to see this strain is affected by seasonal variation. So much research right now of course is being spent on treatment and prevention, hopefully someone out there will start researching into why there is seasonal variation in influenza, and hopefully SARS-CoV-2 as well. We have just lived with it, time to find out why it happens.
