There's a case of a nine years-old boy who tested positive for covid19 and was symptomatic. They did contact tracing of 172 people who had direct contact eighth the boy (including siblings) and who weren't infected.
an investigation by Public Health France found that the nine-year-old did not pass it on to either of his siblings nor anyone else, despite coming into contact with 172 people, all of whom were quarantined as a precaution, and having lessons at three separate ski schools.research that suggests children may not be major spreaders of the virus.
But...hey...let's ignore everything since the initial numbers coming from China, WHO, models, and Italy. -
Just because someone doesnt get hospitalized doesn't mean they can't contract the disease. There you are being disingenuous again. Your underlined even says rates of hospitalization for 0-17 are much lower. Lower doesn't equal zero. So kids DO really cotract the diesease. It just doesn't affect them as it does the older population. A carrier is still a carrier. Stop being obtuse.Comment

The point missed by so, so many: This isn't worth shutting down the world. It's not worth shutting down schools. It's a good idea to protect the elderly. Reads like an Anti-Gun Hoplophobe argument. Kids also die from gun shot wounds.

Hardly anything in life is completely black & white, there will be exceptions and outliers.

I don't disagree that locking down the country was and is an overreaction. But you have a habit of spreading misinformation and posting statements that are nowhere close to being factual.Last edited by Aces and 8s; 05-04-2020, 8:13 AM.Comment

Is that a rhetorical or sarcastic question? Just because someone is asymptomatic doesn't mean they're not a carrier or that the diesease that inflicts them is not communicable.Comment

The reality: The burden we experience from any disease comes from the following factors
- Lost productivity (people staying home from work due to their own illness)
- Parents staying home (to care for their children)
- Caring for the elderly
If a disease has few symptoms then the cost to society is small, possibly insignificant. The common cold is an easy example, kids will stay home but adults will usually just fight through it unless it's bad.
So while kids can catch covid it's not a big deal for those kids, their parents or society. It's "cheap" - little loss of productivity or other impact. Kid will wipe his nose for a couple days and then get back in the saddle.
Only the elderly and unhealthy really experience any impact. A few old people will die a little sooner than they otherwise would have, but a bad flu season would have roughly the same outcome as the covid.Comment

I want the schools to be in normal full session (without split days) in September.
