But we know that the virus is like the flu or perhaps even milder, and the economic shutdown and idiotic policies like "social distancing" and mask wearing and closing beaches to punish people are complete b.s. and are not about health or safety.

The fundamental failure in logic here lies in treating this complex issue with an entire range of responses as a binary problem. Closer vs opener, freaker vs nonfreaker, any approach implicitly over generalizing fails before it begins.

We get it, interpret data sets isolated and/or ambiguous enough to be hand-waved into your narrative. Toss out numbers that can't be logically applied the way you need them applied. Don't err on the side of caution in the face of a new virus which has the most obvious features of something which could be dangerous. Be unafraid. So unafraid. Because any sort of admission there may be a threat to manage would be cowering or boot licking or whatever
