While ludicrous we really aren't as far from that end of the scale as I would have hoped, every day seems to bring another vocal CG member weighing in on how all the medical experts are just colluding to destroy our country in service to some wild conspiracy. How long before some random nutjob goes after one of the many public health officials around the country due to that thinking?I had a conference call with one of our contractors yesterday. The product manager wasn't able to make it, so we just talked story for about half an hour.
Many people don't know this, but there's a big tech sector down in Guadalajara Mexico... and some really good talent down there. Much better than dealing with morons in India, and the timezone ain't as bad.
Anyways... really nice guy. Been working with him for about six months now.
So while we're talking story, we compared notes on how people are handling the SIP and such. They're doing most of the same stuff down there, people staying home, wear masks/gloves, etc... but there's a difference.
Apparently, while we're having protests about having to stay home, the good folks down in Mexico are attacking and harassing Doctors and Nurses who are dealing with the Covid-19 infected patients. While our medical pro's are getting praised from every direction (and rightfully so), there's a population of morons down south that are physically attacking them. He said that stupid people are thinking that the doctors are spreading it on purpose.
The complete stupidity of some people just can't me measured in normal terms... you have to use the "order of magnitude" scale... and attacking doctors taking care of sick people, well that's WAY near the end of that scale.

Quindrell Yarbrough, 29, is charged with aggravated battery in the April 1 attack, Chicago police announced Friday.
A nurse told ABC7 she was punched in the face on a CTA bus by a man who accused her of trying to give him COVID-19.Comment

Damnit Quindrell!Comment

Let me make it simple for you
The stupidity meter is always pegged at 100%. Redline, all the time. Think of it as entropy, and the isolated system is the population of humans stuck here on Earth.
Only when that (temporarily) fluctuates is it news of any consequence. Kinda like life.
"Oh, look, entropy went the other way on that planet for a tick of the cosmic clock".
"Oh, yeah? I must have missed it."
"It wasn't that big of a deal"

Pretty much. Sad people can't use some perspective on what they are spoon fed on the fake news groups. Plus the US news crews suck at showing anything significant happening outside of the US borders as well, unfortunately. This pandemic is not isolated to Italy, China and the USWhile ludicrous we really aren't as far from that end of the scale as I would have hoped, every day seems to bring another vocal CG member weighing in on how all the medical experts are just colluding to destroy our country in service to some wild conspiracy. That happens in backwards countries all the time. Plenty of stories in Africa about clinics being burnt down and the workers slaughtered because the people think they are spreading whatever disease that is going around. You're dealing with people whos culture isn't based upon rational and logical thought, Mexico still has large areas filled with peasants who don't understand science 1 bit.^^^The above is just an opinion.

I'm surprised at you, you bring up 2 unrelated issues. Are you saying public health officials are working the ED/ICU's where they are in contact with patients and have a probability of spreading the disease? I would imagine a reason for going after a public health official would be the persons life was destroyed and their family is now impoverished and homeless by SIP/save grannies life. Not because the public health official was spreading the disease. While ludicrous we really aren't as far from that end of the scale as I would have hoped, every day seems to bring another vocal CG member weighing in on how all the medical experts are just colluding to destroy our country in service to some wild conspiracy.
