The only vaccine that I've heard might possible be available this year is the Oxford one in the UK.
Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)

There are plenty of vaccines right now. It will take 12 to 18 months to find out:
      • Are they safe
      • If safe, do they help your body actually fight off the virus
      • Sometimes a vaccine can make the cytokine storm worse should you get the infection. This is not helpful. Your immune system needs to be primed the right way and not the wrong way.

Well, Georgia, today, is allowing businesses to open...
People wanting to enter them may..
Depending on how that goes they may reopen schools in Sept. The governor is promoting it.

        Without any vaccine...

        Closing 2 years is nuts..

The current approach is absolute insanity
Because a vaccine isn't a treatment or a way to stop the existing outbreaks from continuing to accelerate and grow through the population to the point of overwhelming our ability to cope with it. Epidemiologists are dealing with the problem we have today not the problem we will have a year from now. Separate efforts are dealing with every element of the response, from searching for effective treatments to investigating potential prevention measures... both drug and vaccine based.

Honestly this has been discussed ad nauseam. If people still can't understand why efforts to mitigate active outbreaks make sense in the face of a novel viral pandemic I don't think they're being reasonable, it has been covered by everyone including POTUS.

Tell that to every area that waited too long to begin mitigation.

I said at least a month ago that some people would use the results of mitigation to argue they weren't necessary in the first place and ignoring all the actual examples of what happened before they were put in place.

Looks like we've officially rounded that corner, it is now a constant talking point.

Not only is that pure speculation but it's also completely irrelevant to anything I said.

This virus is being taken seriously the world over because of the damage it has already wrought. People are responding to a real pathogen which is causing a real disease that has proven to spread exceeding well through unprepared populations.

Oddly, they've been saying 12-18 months for at least two months now. So apparently the countdown hasn't even begun

A big variable is do you intentionally expose test subjects to the virus. If you have to wait for natural exposure to occur, it add the time you have to wait and it makes the resulting data less reliable.

So who is going to volunteer? I think the Chinese govt will be able to find possibly unwilling test subjects. They don't care and one operating principle of the Chinese govt is that they have plenty of Chinese. Loose some to air pollution or a vaccine trial is no big deal. Here in the US, maybe not so easy to get those same test subjects.

Vaccine may or may not even work. It's not easy to make a vaccine, they don't have one for the HIV virus either.

IMO lockdown only buys us time to get better at treatments, supplies, and testing.

With good testing we could slow the spread while getting to a new normal. I don't think things will ever go back to the old normal in our lifetimes.
