The Thomas Paine Inversion: Your Liberty Kills People

The Communists/Globalists have scored a big victory here, never in history has this ever been a reason to strip people of their freedoms, but THIS time it's different, you're gonna get people killed with those dangerous freedoms.

Many here dancing on the graves of those who chose liberty as if this is some victory and not the worst part of this tragedy, the fact that Paine's words will never have the same meaning after this, and that's completely intentional.

Very sad watching the constitution die a slow death, and even more so as many here cheer the death of our rights and freedoms while simultaneously lauding the tyrants who stripped so many of their liberty.

How can anyone be so damn stupid?

They have always used this argument with gun control. Parading out the families of shooting victims.
Emotional appeal is a marketing tactic and not a foundation for effective argument.

Just look at the last election:
      - 50% of the country voted for Hillary (because it was Her turn)
      - 50% thus are still brainwashed by the MSM
      - MSM is more active with the TDS than ever, now busy carrying water for Dr Fauci and his merry band of IHME modelers
      - That same 50% easily bought by promises of free stuff (forgiven student loans, free healthcare)

I'm afraid we've reached the point of no return. If we didn't have Trump it would already be completely over - we'd be a full-blown police state.

And now the feds are threatening to sue the states that violated civil rights

Blunt means to deal with the pandemic are justified up to a point, Barr said in an interview Tuesday on “The Hugh Hewitt Show.”

I feel like tooting my own horn here, but will resist for now.

Another inversion; in World War II, several hundred thousand American men, gave their lives for the defense of the American way of life, its freedoms and liberties, and the entire country was behind the effort. "The Greatest Generation".

Today, a great deal of Americans are willing to throw our way of life under the bus, our freedoms and liberties, to try and "save" perhaps tens of thousands of lives.

LOL. Please. Personal freedom is the first thing out the window when we face a major threat.

People on all sides are expressing their frustrations, not all of it in a healthy way, but let's face it, when you refuse to adhere to recommended social distancing and catch the virus because of it, that's ironic. If you die from it, that's even more ironic. No less tragic.

Most people in this forum would see similar irony in an anti-gun person not being able to defend themselves.

Let's not be so dramatic. You can't drive 100 mph on the freeway without risking a ticket, because you'd be endangering someone's life. I'm really good at driving fast and likely could do it every day without putting anyone's life in danger, but the government has a legitimate interest in public safety and they get to fine me for that. If you think that's not constitutional you are deeply, deeply confused about how constitutional law works and the very purpose of government.

Wearing a mask to the grocery store is, in my opinion, exactly the same class of thing as a speed limit.

The more grievous restrictions, such as closing of businesses, obviously requires a bit more justification but I think the war time analogy fits perfect here. In WWII a lot of businesses could no longer operate due to restrictions on what metal could be used for etc -- for the common good.

It's a society. Deal with it.

I stopped asking myself that 3-4 weeks ago.

I've just come to the realization that - we have to deal with the stupidity. It's the new norm.

                            They adopted American culture.
