With only 3% the population of the Untied States and a single ruling central government as opposed to 50 individual states managing their own issues and looking to blame one man, it's probably a wee tiny bit easier to manage in Sweden than in the Untied States, but hey, that doesn't fit the narrative now does it?

This is all true. But population density in Sweden isn't all that much different and they are an OLD country. They have a different way of doing things that seems to work well for them, I like ours better but that's beside the point because I don't live there. Their medical facilities are world class, maybe the best, I trust they've thought this through and made their decisions accordingly.

In the end I think you'll see roughly the same percentage there as everywhere else.

As Sweden extended its entry ban for a further 30 days, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven warned that people should expect the measures put in place due to the coronavirus to remain for a long time to come.

Sounds like common sense, treat adults like adults. Go about your business and be safe.

i did all these things before there was any pandemic

In Sweden, the official advice requires everyone to:

Stay at home if you have any cold- or flu-like symptoms, even if they are mild and you would normally continue life as normal. Stay at home until you have been fully symptom-free for at least two days.

Practise good hygiene, by regularly and thoroughly washing your hands with soap and water, using hand sanitiser when that's not possible, and covering any coughs and sneezes with your elbow.

Keep distance from all other people when in public places. That includes shops, parks, museums, and on the street, for example. The World Health Organisation recommends keeping at least a 1.5-2 metre distance.

Avoid large gatherings, including parties, weddings, and other activities.

Work from home if you can. Employers have been asked to ensure this happens where possible.

Avoid all non-essential travel, both within and outside Sweden. That includes visits to family, planned holidays, and any other trips that can be avoided.

If you have to travel, avoid busy times such as rush hour if you can. This reduces the number of people on public transport and makes it easier for people to keep their distance.

If you are over 70 or belong to a high-risk group, you should stay at home and reduce all social contacts. Avoid going to the shops (get groceries delivered or try to find someone who can help you), but you can go outside if you keep distance from other people. Read more about the help available to those in risk groups here. (N/A)

By following these precautions, we can all help to protect those who are most at risk and to reduce the rate of infection, which in turn reduces the burden on Sweden's healthcare sector.

They're not just treating adults like adults, they have forced all public gatherings of any significant size to cease and desist, barred much international travel and limited how people can interact in public businesses like restaurants. Their mandated restrictions haven't gone as far as some other places in forcing nonessential business closures but none of those are just suggestions.

Sweden's somewhat more limited restrictions have been effective thus far in preventing exponential growth generally, though Stockholm hasn't been as successful as their other counties. Not surprising given the population size and density in Stockholm relative to the rest of Sweden. There has been much ongoing debate on how to deal with their outbreaks and this is the balance they've been able to strike, obviously if say Stockholm had've kept seeing incidence rate trend exponential they would have ramped up the response to something which would better manage the disease growth. They are still seeing a dramatic economic slowdown and have instituted multiple government programs to stem the tide of business closures and job losses there, including but not limited to massive spending and loan programs. Sweden has major social welfare programs including a robust and multi-tiered national pension system along with universal healthcare so they have fundamentally different ways of reacting to social disruptions than we do.

There is no one-size-fits-all response to this.
