Infection may be 85 times higher than previously thought...

The researchers claim their findings suggest that between 48,000 and 81,000 people in Santa Clara County had been infected with COVID-19 by April 1, while the total number of confirmed cases was less than 1,000.

Pretty crazy if true, to bad we didn't have those numbers a few months ago...

So does that mean the rate of deaths-per-infected drops significantly?

It means instead of 28000 infected in ca it may be more like 2400000 and still only 973 dead so the %chance to die is dramatically lower than what they thought previously.

In other news, WuFlu mortality is far below that of the common flu. News at 11(because that's essentially the message in this story).

This is why the total number of tests performed is seldom mentioned in the news, the fact that ~75% of the people tested being negative doesn't help frighten the public into submitting to tyrannical rules.

This site says 3.5 million tests, 686k positives, which is more than 75% negative. 19.39% positive?

This is good news. Actual paper is here https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...463v1.full.pdf

This isn't a random selection of people to test so extrapolating to the US as a whole might not be valid. They go into detail how they tried to go from the 3300 tests that they did to Santa Clara county as a whole. However, no matter what the number of people with antibodies is way more than the confirmed numbers.

Yes. But anyone with an ounce of common sense realized this already.

Yes, but how would the powers to be handle this??

Much less fatality rate so open up (as they should) or

Many many more infected than we thought so lockup everybody in their home??? Even if it saves 1 life.

Where's the guy who was posting daily death counts with 21% death rate? (crickets...)

This whole charade should be ended now. Immediate opening of the entire economy. Restaurants, bars, sports, races, dental offices - everything.

Covid isn't even as bad the Flu.

                      That depends,

the death count in Wuhan doubled yesterday and very few believe that either.

Yep, i read the Stanford study, published by the Mercury News. Great news! Mortality rate .12-.2% versus assumed 3%.

Even with that studies max extrapolation of a 5% infection rate, we are still a ways from herd immunity.

The stupid arbitrary measures we are living under need to change no matter what. Perhaps to something more like Sweden. Really need to cut out the mass events like rock concerts, etc. Most should go back to work. People who can work from home should probably continue for some time. Keep isolating the elderly.

I'm headed out to the desert pretty soon loosening of the measures or not. Good luck to the powers that be of finding me.

That was because they admitted to under reporting past cases and deaths..

Probably because the world realizes they lie about such things consistently..
