Fasting while sick -- You Need To Know This

When animals get sick with an infection, they lose their appetite and refuse to eat. This has some people wondering if fasting is a good survival response instilled by millions of years of evolution.

Answer is: YES. For bacterial infections.

Answer is: NO. For viral infections.

Apparently you need glucose to fight viruses. But it's the opposite for bacteria, you do NOT want glucose.

You got infected with the China Coronavirus or even just the regular flu? KEEP EATING GLUCOSE.

'May correlate' isn't exactly a definitive answer but I think we can agree when the body needs rest and energy to fight off an infection starvation isn't a winning strategy.

Remember: the body's inflammatory response is also shaped by millions of years of evolution but that doesn't mean we always want it to react naturally. The solutions evolution has come up with for heritable traits aren't the end-all be-all in how we respond to sickness.

So the old timers were correct when they said starve a cold and feed a flue?

What's that old saying; "Feed a cold & Starve the flu" or something like that?
        Any truth to it?

Hum, next time I feel sick I'll try and determine (i.e., guess) if it is bacterial or viral before proceeding. Interesting if not useful info though.

Yea just make sure the flue is cleaned and opened or else the house will fill with smoke and kill you.

Noodle soup with apple cider vinegar. Add some tapatio and shaved garlic.

Wash down with Jack Daniels, which has been dissolving an Airborne tablet.
