Is the government open or is it shut down?

Someone posted about me: "You don't even seem to want the answers you're looking for."

    But yes I do!

Is the government open for business?
    - Is there any form of shut down for the gov?
    - Has anyone been sent home?

I'm talking mostly about the non-essential people who are sent home every 6-12 months anyway during the budget discussions (those who get a free vacation on our dime.)

Like these 1 Million useless bureaucrats:
Who works during a government shutdown? During the last government shutdown in 2013, more than 850,000 nonessential government employees were forced to stay home from work.

On a GOOD day, it's shut down. On a BAD day, it's THERE to "help" you!

Government exists to perpetuate government and control the masses. They're busy beavers right now. Lots of masses to control and piles of power to guard. Leaving citizens to their own devices is dangerous!

Whether on the job or at home, a super majority of the taxtakers are still drawing fat paychecks, retirement benefits, and accuring vacation time.

And remember, while many medical staff are working hard, and that work is apprciated, don't feel bad for them because most will be rewarded at premium overtime rates.

Sure isn't easy to get answers to get a fix-it ticket signed off when you've lost the original cite. Santa Clara courthouse phone is automated in regular practice, now it doesn't even ring through.

This pandemic seems to have really stressed out sd_shooter beyond some kind of mental breaking point. If you look at who's posting the threads in this temporary COVID19 forum, a very large number of them are his. He's just doing this weird mental gymnastics thing all day, dreaming up new threads to post on Calguns faster than they even get resolved. It's incredibly ****ing weird and possibly a little troubling.

The article is from the last "shutdown" when the useless employees went home for a paid vacation. Is there a more recent example you can think of?

(I'm guessing your answer to my original question is: "No, they're all still at work, and magically more immune to covid than the rest of the population")

                          Scientists!

Serious question: why is it acceptable for the 1 Million non-essential government workers to still be at work?

If we must social-distance, why are they not part of the effort?

If the spread is exponential, will not 1 Million government workers needlessly expose the rest of us to the disease?

Weird. I live in a town of about 80,000. The city has sent home tons of non-essential workers. Cops and firemen are still at work. City Hall is mostly shut down. No parking enforcement. No parks and rec. I can only assume other cities are doing the same.

Yes, we are completely shut down except for essential workers.
