That's why the US and Israeli governments have activated their end of the world, nuclear holocaust, Continuity of Government bunkers.....

Israel has activated its National Management Center (NMC), a continuity of government (COG) bunker that looks right out of a science fiction movie.

The facility serves as an extremely hardened command and control site for top Israeli officials so that they can continue to run the country during a major crisis. The spinning-up of the National Management Center is a result of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country and the potential instability and strategic implications that could go along with the outbreak.

As The War Zone recently noted the U.S. government has done the same, activating its Cheyenne Mountain underground complex and other hardened installations as the virus spreads through the U.S. population and the United States military.

Yes and no. Cheyenne Mountain is not really a primary facility for anything, but you have to assume that since it's getting activated as a contingency there are similar things going on at the sites that matter. However, we did similar activations for September 11th, etc.

It's only a question of whether someone thinks that site could be useful. Lord knows I'm on a heck of a lot of teleconferences these days, obviously they need to stand up even more of them.

... being prepared in case of shtf scenario. Just like storing rice and beans. What was packed in the back corner of the pantry may be front and center just in case. That doesn't mean it's going to be used.

the true risk here, especially in the case of Israel, is that their neighbors that don't like them are in no position to properly deal with any epidemic. if things get bad enough, they might get desperate and lash out. Israel isn't that worried about the virus directly, it's the secondary affects.
