This statement is neither tin-foil hattery nor fear mongering. Just a simple angry statement of fact.

I don't know anyone from NYC, but I would be curious to see a random 10 NYC people respond to your notion.

Lifting stay at home will not help nor keeping it. Look up the news where 100s gathered in NY at arrival of hospital ship and were risking life and taking selfies.

Also don't care. Every state is going to have it's own circumstances, with separate population density and separate social norms. What is needed in NYC is overkill for CA and draconian for Georgia.

Just like I can't compare gun laws/control between USA and Germany/Switzerland/Israel. Different people, different culture.

So what matters? CA has a history of moving the goal posts, and what is 3 weeks to flatten the curve turns into 6 because 'we didn't flatten it enough' turns into 3 months because 'every life matters' turns into shelter in place until November 3rd:
