Damn, I think you guys are right. I need to up the cash on hand since shtf is getting closer and closer. I thought 1500 would be enough. I think we need 3-5k at the crib.

One good thing is that our neighborhood has 1 entrance in and 1 entrance out. There are 300 of us. If we don’t have too many betas in my neighborhood then if things get ugly we could close off the neighborhood.

a) It's not like you are earning 5% on your money sitting liquid in the bank.

b) You can always deposit it back in if this turns out to be a nothingburger in 30-60 days.....

but a few days ago CA suddenly said you cannot go to your second home if you are already in your primary residence and must shelter in place in your primary residence. I would be taking guns with me, so would not want to risk being stopped for violating a travel order.

I was at a store today that had plenty in stock of everything but paper goods. I have been visiting lots of different stores around town and I would say the Vallarta types are way better stocked then the Vons/Smart and Finals/Walmart in my area.

I prepped a long time ago.. A run on the bank... It may happen over night just like the TP scare did. If it does the TP could end up being worth more... If you can afford to have a few grand in bullets and guns you should be good to have that much in cash too.

Having a good mix of metal Gold is number one because that is real money, silver is a cheap commodity or something that may be traded in a bad times.

If things get really bad, being able to trade goods for goods is best because most people will want something they can use right now not something to increase their wealth later..

Having a mix of metals, guns, ammo, knives, tools, food, water, cash and personal skills will get you a long ways if things really go bad. Not living in a populated area will be a huge bonus because, if it is that bad they will be the first to die and kill each other off. Having a second home outside a very small town can be a really good thing and preferably in another state.

The trillions being produced, handed out and redistributed right now out of thin air should quell any possible "deflation" for the time being. Cash will be over rated. When the "checks" come I can use the cash on guns I hope and put the check in the bank.

Went to Costco (in NC) today and it was completely stocked except TP.. milk, eggs, everything.. even had paper towels.

- go grocery shopping if you need to,
- go for a walk if you need to,
- go outdoors / hike, jog, biking, rowing, sailing if you want too

Plenty of ways to go from primary to secondary home. Unless your second home is in the Euro union, China, Iran or South Korea you are fine to travel.

The sheriff in the neighborhood of my second home, and the neighbours there ( who called the sheriff ) have interpreted Newsom’s order to require you must stay at your primary residence, unless you were already at your second residence when the sudden “shelter in place for all” order came down.
A sheriff there recently came, armed, and commanded people in a home who did not live there leave. They left, forcibly.
He was called because the neighborhood residents know who is full time and who has a second home, and they are calling the sheriff because they are afraid local groceries and gas stations and health care facilities will be overwhelmed, ( and cannot imagine someone would come well-supplied and is perhaps entitled to use health facilities because he pays taxes in that county). They have even checked if people are hiding their cars behind bushes, since the shelter order came down.

The things you mention can also be done where my primary residence is, so I don’t want to risk being called on them, especially if my car is transporting my firearms to be with me to my second home so they do not get stolen at my primary home..

I always have Cash, good and silver in one of my safes. Normally the cash is for if I find a deal on something that I can flip. But it works well for something like this.

Sounds like a sheriff out of control and over stating their place in the world. I manage a marina. We have had two SF residents "bug out" to their boats in our marina. Not an issue for anyone. Both this past weekend.
