    Fraud.

Do you think those needing a ventilator gives a rat's a** how or from where it came?

I'll cut you some slack, it is the 8th day of shelter in place...

Yeah...if there are Chinese ventilators available we should be snatching them up right quick. It shouldn't take Tesla to figure that out

Musk never promised anything. He was asked to build them. I don't believe he ever publicly responded to the question.

The point of the whole exercise was to decrease dependency on Chinese products at at time of massive global demand.

If there's a notch above epic fail this is it.

Is 'committed to build' better for you? He was asked and he committed. Then he face planted again.

Tell that to the guy who needs a ventilator TODAY.

Of course we need to rebalance this exportation of production to China, but to delay having ventilators to prove a point is...stupid.

So is it certain he's not just simultaneously buying to meet the needs today while working on getting them out tomorrow?

How exactly did he face plant on procuring vents from China, as opposed to building them? The way I see it, he delivered life support systems sooner than later which people need now in order to have a chance to live.

It's not often you see someone complain about philanthropy.

Left out of the OP is the fact these 1255 ventilators are available right now, while both GM and Tesla have committed resources to begin manufacturing ventilators that doesn't happen overnight and neither company is able to estimate when they'll be able to ramp up production.

Even Trump has commended the effort.

That's not the point of this exercise. The point of this exercise is to get needed medical supplies available ASAP.
