    States Currently With Stay-At-Home Orders

From CNN an hour or two ago - These states have implemented stay-at-home orders. Here's what that means for you

    California

Last Thursday, Gov. Gavin Newsom was the first governor in the US to set mandatory stay-at-home restrictions to help combat the coronavirus.

Since the order went into effect, all nonessential services such as dine-in restaurants, bars, gyms and convention centers have been shut down.

Essential services, such as groceries, pharmacies, gas stations, food banks, convenience stores and delivery restaurants, have remained open. So have banks, local government offices that provide services and law enforcement agencies.

While the order is not being enforced by police, Newsom urged all Californians to stay at home. Residents who need to leave home to take part in essential activities are advised to practice social distancing.
    Something interesting to note...

    2016 Election Map by State

There shouldn't be a political component to this, but the realities are a little difficult to ignore. I'll let you explore how many of those 16 states have, recently introduced, or tried to introduce AWB and other anti-gun legislation.

When the rest of the states, presumably mostly republican now, join the first 16, how would you comment on that? Would that still have anything to do with AWB?

Don't blame me. As I said, there shouldn't be a correlation. I'm just relaying the facts. The reality is that it is primarily Democrat-controlled States which were the first ones to produce Statewide stay-at-home orders, while other states, such as Texas and Florida, are resisting... Gov. Greg Abbott resists calls for statewide shelter-in-place; moves to expand hospital capacity

Although, Texas is starting the way California did, with more local orders... More and more Texans ordered to stay at home as coronavirus spreads in urban centers

Then there's Florida... Should Gov. DeSantis issue a stay-at-home order for Florida?

...Gov. Ron DeSantis has been resisting calls to join states such as California and New York in issuing stay-at-home or home-sheltering orders that have left streets from Sacramento to Albany looking deserted...
Are there elements, other than Republican/Democrat alignment, involved? Certainly.

However, it is interesting to note that the more "Liberal-oriented" States (many with recent histories involving anti-gun legislation) are the first to issue stay-at-home orders and talk about martial law as a real possibility.

Infection diseases really take off in densely populated urban areas, which are almost exclusively democratic ruled. Therefore it is normal and natural to expect those areas jump on the preventive measures first.

Other areas will react too as the disease gets closer to home. That’s all there is to it.

Party pooper. You're ruining OP's conspiracy theory. I, for one, wanted to see how far it goes.

It's not about conspiracy theories. It's about an apparent diversity in the frames of mind or thinking among those in charge and, frankly, I'm not the only one commenting on it; on this board, in the media, et al.

Democrats seem to be 'ready' to shut things down, extend the shut down of the economy indefinitely, close gun shops as 'non-essential' or not "life preserving," and generally let Big Government do its thing.

Republicans seem to be less inclined to shut things down. They are more ready to get the economy going; not simply wishing to return to a sense of normalcy, but because most experts cannot comprehend how an indefinite or months-long shut down will do anything but cripple the U.S. as a whole. They are more inclined to allow gun shops to continue to function, seeing them as, potentially, providing "life preserving" products. Put another way, they are more restrained in allowing Big Government to do it's thing; though they do acknowledge it may, ultimately, be required.

Since this is a gun forum, the gun issue seems relevant to discuss. We have thread after thread and post after post being put on this site about gun shop closures, slow/shut downs of background checks, how do I pick up a DROS'd gun during the shutdown, etc. as a result of these measures. Yet... I bring up what seems to be a correlation related to the pre-existing political mindsets of our leaders and how they are shaping their orders and I'm suddenly a conspiracy theorist?

There are some very real Constitutional issues involved, not 'conspiracy theory.' As examples...

Los Angeles sheriff: gun shops not essential, must close

            Chuck Michel... conspiracy theorist?!?!

CRDF, et al. vs. GOV. TOM WOLF: PA Shut Down Gun Dealers Due To COVID19

            Three dissenting judges... conspiracy theorists?!?!

Gun-rights coalition sues New Jersey governor for closing gun dealers during coronavirus pandemic

...Mr. Kashinsky was joined in the lawsuit by the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, the Second Amendment Foundation and Legends Firearms, a Monroe Township, New Jersey, firearms retailer...
            All, clearly, conspiracy theorists.

            The inverse?

The NSSF is clearly staffed by conspiracy theorists!!!
