My conclusion too. Was hoping someone that knew more than I would have insight. Summer is coming and not eating fresh veggies is sad

My understanding is that food is a pretty low-risk vector for the virus. It's not like a bacteria that infests them on the inside and you catch this thing by inhaling droplets, not through the stomach. Additionally it seems to live for two or three days most and that's on smooth surfaces like plastic and stainless steel. I'd probably avoid things like corn with a lot of nooks and crannies, but smooth-skinned fruits and vegetables should be fine as long as you wash them thoroughly and, with things like onions, oranges, etc. remove the skin/outer layer after washing.

I'd think packaged salads ought to be fine, commercial packing facilities already observe pretty strict hygiene procedures and are largely automated anyway, and by the time you eat the salad it's probably been in there for a few days. If you really want to be safe it's probably not a horrible idea to wash the plastic bag off before opening it.

The paranoia in this thread is insane....just wash your fruits and veggies before consuming. And getting it via packaged salad mix, really?.

I’d bet you are more likely to die from getting hit by a train in a parking lot, before getting Covid 19 from pre-packaged salad.

              It should be fine.

I'd imagine the packaged stuff is fairly safe. I assume that the packagers take extra precautions due to the "normal" baddy, E.Coli.

My understanding virus doesn’t live very long outside of live bodies. I leave stuff that could not be easily wiped off with disinfectant for “quarantine” for 2-3 days. Perishables could sit in a fridge for a little while before handling/eating. I know I could be wrong.

The virus that causes COVID-19 remains for several hours to days on surfaces and in aerosols, a new scientific study has found. The study suggests that people may acquire the coronavirus through the air and after touching contaminated objects.

Just because your paranoid doesn't mean the virus isn't out to get ya...

Also if refrigerated I assume it lives longer. I saw somewhere it can live in a freezer for 2 years

I've never eaten a veggie or fruit item from a store that wasn't washed by my own hand first.

Does water get rid of it though?
