Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) may be the Kung Flu cure

There's been so much discussion about the virus, I might have missed this. Sorry if dupe. But encouraging news nonetheless that seems to work.

Old malaria drug hydroxychloroquine may help cure coronavirus: study

French physician-researchers have completed a largely successful clinical trial using the drug — approved for use in the US in 1955 —
to treat confirmed COVID-19 patients, according to a study published Wednesday.

A total of 36 patients — including 20 treated individuals and 16 infected controls —
were enrolled in the study, led by Didier Raoult, an infectious disease expert from l’Institut Hospitalo-Universitaire in Marseille.

The treated group was given 600 mg of Plaquenil each day.

The researchers found that 50 percent of the treated group turned from positive to negative for the virus by the third day — and by day six, that figure was up to 70 percent.

Of the 20 test patients, six who were treated with both Plaquenil and the antibiotic azithromycin showed impressive results — with five testing negative at day three. All six of them tested negative at day six.

“Despite its small sample size our survey shows that hydroxychloroquine treatment is significantly associated with viral load reduction/disappearance in COVID-19 patients and its effect is reinforced by azithromycin,” the study concluded.

As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads around the world, scientists are scrambling to identify treatments that may be effective against the disease.

Add some Zinc and I heard that is the best “cocktail” against COVID-19.

There is also some thought that certain drugs used to treat and prevent HIV infection are effective against Covid-19, but they don't come without their own list of potential side effects. Same with Plaquenil.

If you're really worried you're best defense at the moment is good hygiene, adequate rest, good nutrition and limiting potential exposure.

It has to be analyzed by the FDA and tested for proper dosage before they make it available to those who have CV. I hope they move quickly, but I kind of doubt they will.

You can't. I have a friend who also has lupus, she's trying to get her doctor to give her a 90 day supply prescription (has been denied previously).

She's pretty worried there will be a run on that stuff and lupus untreated can be really, really bad.

Quinine has been a known anti-malarial also.

I've been drinking Gin&Tonic more lately (tonic water contains quinine).

If the governor hasn't demanded his share of the Bayer company chloroquine donation, then he isn't doing his job. The stash should already have been Fed Ex to the state and be on the way to each hospital for distribution

Quinine is the natural compound from tree bark. Chloroquine is the synthetic version.

I'd rather have the natural stuff myself. Some people or many people say there isn't enough quinine in tonic water. They don't know that and if you've been drinking tonic for a while you probably have a cumulative effect.

On the Hannity Show they had a very interesting map correlation. They showed a map of where malaria still exists and where malaria drugs are administered and it looks like a mirror opposite of the map where the coronavirus outbreaks are.
