    Weird call from Bender Rosenthal

My aunt & uncle lost their home in Paradise and have found a rental in the Durham area. I get a weird phone call yesterday and the rep on the phone says she's from PG&E and they're doing free tree cutting and removal for homeowners in Paradise. She says they're trying to contact the property owner and wants to know if I'm related and if I have contact information for them. Something seemed weird so instead of giving her the info., I said I would pass her # along to my aunt & uncle.

After the call, a google search of the phone number says it's from the offices of Bender Rosenthal, a real estate outfit in Sacramento that deals largely in land sales.

I understand that PG&E actually is doing this service, but has anyone heard of this sort of partnership, especially a real estate outfit? Makes me think this group is trying to get access to property owners for marketing purposes?

Most likely they are trying to get a hold of the owner so that they can buy the land.

After the Thomas Fire we had tree contractors working for SCE in the area. They spent a few weeks trimming trees around all of their lines, but did not contact anyone before hand, and did not trim or cut any trees that were not directly adjacent to their lines.

The request you received sounds fishy and my guess is mycrstuff hit the nail on the head.

That's what I'm thinking. Marcus Crassus.

You must have a unique last name for them to call you, or if it’s “Smith,” they got really lucky. Pretty sleazy if they weren’t being legit. Don’t know what the big deal would be for them to come out and say they want to make an offer on the property if your aunt & uncle had thought about selling.
