Why can't a pump be a quality shotgun? My Mossberg Flex 500 shoots just fine for trap and cost me less than $500. Your definition of quality must mean that it costs tons of money but does the same thing as something that doesn't cost as much. I pull the trigger, it goes bang and the clay explodes. Then cool smoke comes out the end of the barrel and the ports.

Same with my Remington 870 Wingmaster that my grandfather gave to my father and my father gave to me. The wood and bluing still look fantastic.

Just because an intricate design is stamped or inlaid into the receiver doesn't make it a quality shotgun. It just means you pay more to make it go bang.
