So I am looking online at places to shoot my mossberg, and most (there aren't many) ranges that allow shotguns in orange county and L.A. say NO PISTOL GRIP SHOTGUNS!! what the hell? Mine has a pistol grip but also has an ATI folding stock(like the motorcycle cops have). whats the deal with this rule? Is it just to prevent shooting from the hip or what? Anybody know of a good place near OC/LA to shoot shotguns? how about BLM land?

Many ranges have a "no pistol grip only" policy. Many will allow a pistol grip with a butt stock. One issue is they don't want you firing from the hip. The other is most people can't hit their target using a pistol grip only shotgun. -
