Mossberg not ejecting

My dad has a Silver Reserve he bought used probably about 10 years ago, and ever since the day he bought it, it has never ejected the shells when he opens it after shooting, like many/most O/U shotguns. He's always said he doesn't care, and honestly it bothers me more than him lol so anyone have any idea how to fix?

Is it designed to eject?
Some sporting shotguns only have extractors that lift the fired shells a little to make them easy to remove from the chambers by hand.
This is done to keep the shooter from having to bend down to pick up the empties.
Some have the option to extract or eject.
Have you checked the Owner's Manual to see how it is supposed to work?

I just checked Mossberg's web site and they sell the OU versions with your choice of extractors or ejectors.
Could be it is working exactly as designed.

When you open your shotgun, does it lift up the hulls slightly so you can remove them easier? If so, it might have the 'extractor' instead of the 'auto ejector'...

Bought it used so long ago, I don't know if he still has the owners manual, but I think you're right. May be designed like you said to not.

I think both of you are right, I think it may be designed, because it does lift the hulls slightly afterwards.
